Jnaana ("we," "us," "our") operates the Jnaana mobile application (the "app"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Jnaana, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using Jnaana, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: name, email address or phone number, and password (or sign-in credentials if you use Google or Apple sign-in).
• Profile information: your chosen character, badges and tier earned, category preferences, and any avatar or display name you set.
• Gameplay data: quiz sessions played, questions answered, scores, accuracy, streaks, and time spent in the app.
• Contacts (with permission): if you choose to find friends already using Jnaana, we may access your device contacts to match existing users. We do not store your full contact list — only the matches and the permission state.
• Device and usage information: device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and general usage analytics.
• Approximate location: if enabled, used only for region-relevant content (such as local leaderboards or region-specific quiz packs), not precise GPS tracking.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate and maintain core app functionality, including quiz sessions, scoring, and progress tracking.
• Power the character and badge progression system tied to your activity.
• Enable friend discovery and real-time challenge matches between players who have both opted in.
• Personalize category recommendations and difficulty.
• Maintain app security, prevent abuse, and debug crashes or performance issues.
• Communicate with you about updates, app changes, or support requests.

3. Friends, contacts, and real-time challenges

Jnaana's friend-finding feature is opt-in. If you grant contacts permission, we check which of your contacts are existing Jnaana users by matching hashed phone numbers or email addresses — we do not share your contact list with other users or third parties.

When you challenge a friend in real time, both players' gameplay data for that session (questions, answers, timing, and score) is visible to each other as part of the match, and may appear in shared match history or leaderboards if that feature is enabled.

You can disable contacts access at any time from your device settings, which will stop new matching but will not remove friend connections you've already made in-app.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers who help us run the app (hosting, analytics, crash reporting), under contractual confidentiality obligations.
• Other players, limited to what you choose to make visible — username, character/badge tier, and challenge results — never your email, phone number, or contact list.
• Legal authorities, if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
• Withdraw consent for optional features such as contacts access or location.
• Request a copy of your data.
• Object to certain processing of your information.

7. Children's privacy

Jnaana is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age required by applicable law in their jurisdiction. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International data transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including outside India, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, we apply appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect.
